  10. Yep, I've done it. I've finally stepped up towards a bigger harddisk. But... 
  11. Somehow it won't work.

  13. I've got a A500 with a GVP 50Mb harddrive. Now, I thought about upgrading it 
  14. by placing a new disk into my controller. Bought me an IBM 200Mb SCSI2 disk, 
  15. and shoved it inside. It didn't work. When I turned the power on (on my 
  16. harddisk) the controller started to examine what the heck was hooked up to 
  17. it, and after a few attempts to reposition the heads, or whatever it wanted 
  18. to find out, it just shut down the harddrive entirely. The LEDs went dead, 
  19. the fan shut down, like it had no power anymore.

  21.  I bet (???) that the controller couldn't find any 'normal' harddisk, and so 
  22. it turned off the entire drive.

  24.  Now, my question is: is it possible at all to shove a 200Mb SCSI2 disk into 
  25. my GVP controller? Here's some technical info:

  27.  GVP: Impact Series II controller, (gvpscsi.device version 3.14)
  28.       (so I _guess_ it's a SCSI2 but I doubt it for it cannot 'connect' to 
  29.        the new drive... So I assume a SCSI-1 controller)
  30.       50Mb large SCSI-1(?) disk inside
  31.  
  32.  200Mb disk:
  33.       IBM , model WDS-3200, p/n 79f4042, SCSI-2
  34.  
  35. Any suggestions are very welcome... Also by email...
